However, while having themes gives you some ideas on what to have on those nights, it can be helpful to see some recipe ideas for different theme nights too.

Here are some menu ideas for each of the days of the week, so you can create a simple meal plan the whole family will love!

Monday: Meatless Monday

Meatless Monday is a great way to encourage your family to try new vegetarian or vegan recipes. It’s also the easiest way to incorporate more plant-based meals into your diet, especially if as a family you are looking to add some more healthy meals to your weekly menu.

Some ideas for Meatless Monday include:

  • Vegetable stir-fry
  • Pumpkin soup with bread
  • Tofu pad thai

Who doesn’t love tacos? Taco Tuesday is a fun way to mix up your weekly dinner routine and let everyone construct their own delicious taco creations. The best thing about tacos is that it is typically a really quick meal to put together, so it works well even on busy nights.

You can make it as simple as you like, with a taco kit from the supermarket, or as elaborate as you like, with options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike.

Here are some ideas for Taco Tuesday:

  • Chicken or beef tacos with all the fillings (lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, salsa)
  • Fish tacos
  • Grilled vegetable tacos with guacamole
  • Shrimp tacos with mango salsa
  • Taco potato casserole

Wednesday: Pasta Night

Pasta is a crowd-pleaser that can be customized to suit everyone’s tastes. You can make it with a classic tomato sauce, a creamy Alfredo sauce, or a pesto sauce. There are so many variations of pasta and it is again, a quick and easy dinner idea for those busy mid-week nights when you’re feeling exhausted.

Thursday: Breakfast for Dinner

Who says breakfast just has to be for the start of the day? Breakfast for dinner is a fun and easy way to switch things up and add some variety to your weekly dinner routine.

Best of all, this is often a winner for fussy kids who might not be so keen on some of your other weekly meal themes!

You can make it from scratch, right down to making your own pizza bases if you have time, buy the bases and ingredients. Or even just order in if you really don’t have the time or energy. It’s your theme night… you do it your way!
